I plan on purchasing a desktop to be used for max settings gaming and video editing. Here are the specs:

CPU:
AMD FX-8350 8 Cores, 4.0GHz

Memory:
8GB DDR3 Memory

Graphics Card:
Radeon R9 290X 4GB GDDR5 PCI-E Graphics Card

Hard Drive:
1TB HARD DRIVE

Power Supply:
Corsair 750W PSU

Monitor:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313

Is this a good setup for max settings gaming/video editing? If you have a better build for the same, or lower, price, please link it. Thanks.

EDIT: I forgot to add that I AM going to upgrade the RAM to 16GB, sorry.

Not to be biased but Intel CPU's usually bring around 15+ more FPS when compared to the AMD counterparts.

Unless the AMD is what keeps this build under budget, I would suggest getting an Intel CPU.

16GB is a little overkill, usually you only need that much if you're make a server.

Also, what i7baby said.

Change to something like I5 4570K or I7 4770k depending on the budget.

You can save some money by getting an Asus VX248H
That monitor is pretty good. It has 1ms response time for good gaming experience and an amazing DCR.

And you already said, you are getting 16GB of RAM.
The minimum i would suggest will be 1600Mhz C9

Cheers :)

Looks like a good build, on the DRAM, with your CPU prob best to stick with 1600 sticks, especially if you are planning to try and add DRAM later (really best to go 16GB in a 2x8GB set from the get go), mixing (even with the same exact model) can be problematic and with the comparatively weaker MC (memory controller) on AMD CPUs might have a lot of problems trying to run 4 1866 sticks, hence the 1600 suggestion. Have you decided on a mobo?
