Upgrading suggestion for a 2011 pc!

hey there fellas! been a while since i posted here. last time i did i did to ask for suggestions for a new pc and been happy with it for a while.
But the main show of my system sapphire 6850 died on me a few months back and i dont have warranty left so if i plan to play any more games i have to get a new card.
my current set up
1. i5 2400 3.10 Ghz
2. gigabyte z68 mobo
3. 2x2 1333 ram
4. 1 tb hdd
5. 120gb ssd
6. 650 watt psu
and of course the dead 6850

Any how, i plan to upgrade and my question is should i sell the enitre system and get a complete new one? would that be a waste? or should i sell the rams and maybe get 2x8 1600 or faster sticks( i do utilize more than 4gb rams- alot of tabs or music files for music production software).
AND which gfx card to get? i was thinking r9 270 or gtx 660. i am open to other options as long as they are in similar price range. i will game on 1080p monitor and MIGHT hook up to a 3d tv for gaming.

oh side not i really do wish the gpu is hackintosh compatible since my old system was, i want a hackintosh compatible gpu.

There is nothing wrong with the i5-2400 , so upgrading the Ram and video card would be the way to go. The r9-270 is the newer model video card so I would go with that.

how much better os the r9 270 compared with 6850? i could basically play all games with the highest setting using 6850 except a few titles like mafia 2..so would this seem like a big upgrade? i do not want to upgrade for a few years unless they die on me again. thank you!

This is a link to the Graphics Crds Hierarchy chart that is put out each month here at Tomshardware and it shows where cards fall in order of performance. You will notice that the r9-270 is four levels above the 6850. So upgrading to the 270 would be a significant upgrade.
