Hey guys, I'm new here, and I'm thinking about building my first PC. I'm not looking to do much gaming on it (if at all), it's mostly for school and movies--I'll be satisfied if it runs Fez--so I hope you don't find this boring! Basically I'm just looking for a notch above your average mom and pop rig. Budget actually isn't an issue, I just called it that because the performance I'm aiming for is "budget pc". I like quality, so despite the performance, I'm willing to pay for good parts.
My only priorities are:
- Form factor (small)
- Quiet (0db, fanless, preferably)
Here's what I came up with: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3vVG6
I figured an i3 would last me a relatively long time, given how I use my PC. I like that the motherboard has wifi (obviously I plan to be plugged in, but you never know), but do I still need a wireless card? No graphics card, since I won't be gaming, but I can always add that later. 4gb ram is plenty for now, and an SSD because I'm assuming it'll help silence my rig. The case is just a stand-in, I'm hoping to get the Thermaltake Urban SD-1.
What do you think? And if I want to upgrade this thing down the line, maybe swap out the CPU, add a graphics card, more ram, then all I really need is a decent motherboard, and maybe a slightly better power supply? Or would that be decent enough for a small upgrade? This thing will never become a gaming rig, but I might decide to bump it up another notch--maybe run Amnesia!
