Hi
I want to SLI the gtx 460 on the coolmaster i green 600w PSU but i need 2 more 6 pin pci-e connectors.
Is it ok to use the molex 4 pin connectors to convert to 6 pin.
Also is the psu powerfull enough it says it is SLI certified.
It has 3 12v rails

12V RAIL 1 19.5A Max

24pin ATX connector
First two pins of the 8pin EPS connector
First PCIe connector
SATA connectors
4pin peripheral connectors
Floppy connector

12V RAIL 2 19.5A Max

4pin ATX12V connector
Last two pins of the 8pin EPS connector

12V RAIL 3 19A Max

Second PCIe connector

I think you'd be pushing it; I wouldnt recommend it. My friend has 2 6870's on an Antec 620W, but Antec makes very good units. He hasnt had a problem in years.

That being said, I would still not condone SLI 460's on that power supply.

so i would be stupid to try sli even though it is sli certified

I would take it.

SLI certified doesnt really mean much. Youu'd still need more power to run the card. You can always buy a new power supply to run it though.

Thanks for your help, the psu only has 2pci-e cables need 4 to sli. After been told it would be pushing it and the fact i would have to use molex to power the other, i might as well sell the gtx 460 and put the money i would have to spent towards a better card.
Will have about £140 ish to spend on a second hand card. any thoughts on what to get.

I mean a new power supply wouldnt be that expensive and would last you quite a long time.

If it were me I would grab myself a new power supply and run the cards in SLI. What games will you be playing?

civ 5, arma 2 / dayz, racing sims, war thunder, planetside 2.

You should be able to run those games on great settings with 2 of those cards. You could also start saving up for a single card, but I dont pass up 3 things.

hi sorry to bother you again, could you give me some advice on which psu to get.
Have been looking for 2 hours and do not trust the publics reviews as they vary so much.

Heh, you arent bothering anyone :)

Do you have a budget for it? I personally prefer brands like Antec, Corsair, Seasonic (sometimes expensive) XFX, PC Power and Cooling, and some others.

Any of these should do:

They are rather expensive, but they will last you through several several computer builds. I've been using my Antec for about 4 years in like 4 different computers.

EDIT: Also found this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

They are an older brand but still make rock solid stuff. Its also got 56a on the 12V rail, which is more than enough for what you will be running.

EDIT3: Also found this one. This unit is oddly low priced for what it is; Seasonic is next to PC Power and Cooling in reliability.

If I had to pick, it would be the one just above or the XFX one.
