Go with the newer Intel series, Haswell. The GTX770 is a nice upgrade, and this case and PSU are better quality options. No need for 16GB of RAM on a gaming machine.

We we're looking for a lot of storage due to the high amount of Media he has, from Gameplay videos, Digital Movies, Music, etc, he has just over a TB worth and was burned by a bad external in the past, hence the internal 2TB for storage. Windows he got for free through his school and the MS DreamSpark program.

The RAM is something we went for because he does a lot of random stuff, from Video editing to gaming to just running all sorts of random stuff (AV, Steam, UPlay, Origin... I could go on, he's a business major, never closes stuff that doesn't go away when he clicks the "X")

All in all the recommendation is very solid, though the extra 2TB drive is a feature he's not looking to compromise on. Thanks! (I gotta start using that PC Parts Picker thing...)
