I think this might be the setup I'll go with, but I'd like to know what you think.

I'm in Canada, but I use PCPartpicker to give me a general idea of what It'll cost.

What suggestions could you give to a first time builder? Also, what would you change with this setup? I'd like to keep the price at or under what it is now.

There are too many wasted parts or uneeded parts. For that kind of money you can build a way more powerful rig. Try this out, the i5 is better for gaming.
