I just need to get some opinions here. I am deciding whether or not I want to make a full backup and keep it on my external drive or am I better off making a hard drive image of it?

Thanks

Actually, the two can be considered the same thing. Just different methods. I like to do a new Win7 disk image on an external drive every so often, after formatting the old partition to take the new image. That way it is just a simple restore process to make it like it was when the backup was created.

But using a backup program to do a full B.U. and then do incremental backups can take less time down the road. But incremental backups use more disk space as each change is added to the original backup. For a business setting, incrementals would make more sense.

Yeah my company gave me access to their MSDN so I have been tossing around the idea for awhile now to get windows 8.1 plus update 1 which is on MSDN and install that on my 2nd hard drive and keep windows 7 on my original drive. Then any stuff i need saved i can use my external.

What app would you use to make an image or backup of my drive?

Thanks
