Help picking out a laptop

I am looking for a new laptop (or refurbished). I mainly watch movies, surf the web, school work, and is my main home computer.
I would like to have;
under $550
4th gen intel (for its many advances over 3rd and AMD)
would like over 4gb of ram
a hard drive over 500gb
HDMI (to plug in another screen)
windows 8 (touchscreen a bonus but a must)
would like to have a decent screen for movies
Not sure if 1080 is necessary... so advice?

I am still undecided on if I want a 15.6in or a 17in. So if anyone can give some help that would be great. Thankyou

15 inch is more portable, whereas 17 inch has a way better workspace.
