I'm thinking about building another gaming pc soon and am still trying to decide upon a processor. The last time I looked these two processors were around the same price so I'm wondering which one is overall better? I've had a person recommend the 4770 over the 4771 but I've also seen someone in the review of the 4771 say that it is an improvement over the 4770 which makes me question what exactly the difference in performance the processors have.

The only negligible difference between the two chips is that the 4771 is clocked up to the stock speed of a 4770K which runs at 3.5GHz stock. The 4770 on the other hand runs at 3.4GHz I believe.

That said if you're looking to buy either one of these chips, might I suggest that if you're not looking to overclock the CPU at all, to go with a Xeon E3-1230 V3 instead. They're basically the same chip (The Xeon lacking Integrated Graphics, but both possessing Hyperthreading) at a much cheaper price.
