I'm looking to buy a new mouse as my logitech G400 died on me. I'm stuck between the Logitech G400, G400s and G502. I've been doing a lot of research and watching reviews of the G502 but still can't decide. I play all sorts of games, mainly FPS and action games and a few RPGs like Diablo too.

Over here, the G400 costs 37 NZD, the G400s 57 NZD and the G502 87 NZD. Realistically, is there a significant performance difference between a G502 and a G400s/G400? Are the improved and extra features on a G502 worth the increase in price from a G400s/G400?

Any thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The G400 is the older version of the G400S version. So it comes down to the G400S vs the G500:

G400S firstly:

400-4,000 DPI
20 million click life cycle
8 programmable buttons
Also has a hydrophobic coating for reducing sweating during long sessions.

G502 next:

Adjustable weight
200-12,000 DPI
Dual mode scroll wheel
11 programmable buttons
Also has a system for when using on different surfaces it "adjusts", just making it work better on different surfaces.

I'd say the G502 is worth the jump in price, especially if you like really low DPI, and or play alot games with alot of buttons.

Edit- I know Diablo has a lot of buttons in it as well, so that could be useful, along with other rpg's and maybe even FPS. For fps's though the higher DPI might come in handy.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm currently leaning a bit more toward the G502 but while it seems to have a great price performance ratio, 87 NZD is still quite expensive for me. One thing I should have mentioned earlier is that I'm gaming on a 32" Samsung LED TV, so input lag is a little bit of a concern. Any idea how responsiveness in the G502 compares to the G400s?

The response time shouldn't be that bad. The 400S is still fantastic, 8 buttons is pretty good, although the 502 has up to 12,000 DPI vs the only 4,000 in the 400S.

I would say if you have the G400s already stick with it. However if you have the money to spend go for the G502. The added weight tuning features, improved cable and infini-scroll feature make it a better all around mouse. Plus who doesn't want a mouse names the Proteus Core.
