Well after being away from pcs for a good long while and going to consoles I've been biten by the urge to build a gaming pc. Last time I built a pc I got the biggest baddest video card out... A 128MB Radeon! So yes it's been awhile... But after watching videos of games like dayz ect I want to jump back into pc. My wife has a Asus store bought pc, duel core 2.6 ghz, 6 gig ram ect, I found an older GeForce GT220 card for free and slapped it in... And well for counter strike it's not bad but dayz is horrendously choppy and just not a good experience. So for around 5-600 bucks what would be a good build to where I can play games such as dayz and arma ect and enjoy it? All the new tech out with duel vid cards and sli crossfire ect ect it get confusing for someone that's been out of the loop for awhile...

Heres a ~500 build from scratch. if you need Windows it'll add ~$90 to the price

if you don't need an OS and want to push up to $600, I' suggest an SSD and upgrading the GPU to a 780X:

No I can't use any parts from the Asus, I'm sure my wife rather I just got my own... She already rolls her eyes when she goes to get on the pc and im sitting there lol I've been hearing a lot about the SSD drives, pretty good upgrade for any type of pc? That be the drive to install the OS to? Thanks for the solutions, I was debating amd vs Intel, ati vs nvidia... Also know nothing about the new mobo out

I wouldn't mind spending 600... You said to upgrade to a 780x but have a 270x listed? Also pcpartpicker seems like a handy little site for building pc's... Thanks for the help, like I said its a lot for someone that's been out of pc's for awhile to wrap his head around! And as I mentioned I really have no idea about motherboards...
