I currently have an FX-4100 overclocked @ 4.4Ghz, and it is the highest I can go to keep it cool and stable, it is much faster than it first started, and was a perfect match for the overclocked VTX3D HD6850 I had.

Since then I have upgraded to a HD 7870XT which I have overclocked to 1100Mhz, and bought it mainly to run most games on high - ultra settings. When I run BF3, I am bogged down by the CPU because it is always at 95+% and my GPU is sitting at a comfortable 40-50% usage.

I want to know which CPU would be best suited with this GPU, please vote in the poll and also give me a reason why you would get that CPU.

I have only included the 3 AMD CPU's, because I want to stick with AM3/+ for budget reasons, so please don't suggest Intel CPU's, I know Intel CPU's are generally better in single core performance, and as I understand it, when games start using next gen consoles as the baseline that gap will close a little due to all 6-8 threads being used fully, and that will port better over to PC's.

FX 8320 because upgrading to a 6300 wouldn't be worth your money (there's a $20 difference between the 4100). An FX 8350 is a factory overclocked 8320, which you can do by yourself and save $30.

You probably just need some extra cores to take care of the background processing so the rest of your CPU can be dedicated to BF3. I'm assuming you're using an aftermarket cooler already so you can just transfer that to the 8320.

What motherboard do you have? Since you are an overclocker, a 990 mobo would be best for any upgrade.

Depending on your budget, in order of preference; FX 8350, 8320, 6350, 6300.

I have a M5A78L-M LX V2 motherboard. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LM_LX_V2/

I know now that the 760 (780L) chipset is not that good, but it can handle a 125w CPU, and I have updated the BIOS to accept a 8350. I suspect I won't be able to overclock a 8350 though.

I have checked prices from CCL Online and amazon they both have AMD's 8350 for £131~ and 8320 for £105~.
