I am looking to buy a pc monitor for gaming use and obviously internet use. I currently have a Sharp 42" LCD TV. I was told that monitors are better for gaming and that I should get a 20"-24" monitor. Why are monitors better than TV's? Also this is my pc: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3HSsP
All help is greatly appreciated! :)

there is little to no difference if really, it all depends on the person, but I have a Dell 23" monitor and a 3DTV I used to game on the Dell but I don't anymore because the tv for me is a little bit better, but when it comes to playing FPS online I use the monitor since its hard to focus on the 50" but that's the only plus I see for the monitor really. Though I will admit if I got a 120hz monitor I would probably sop using the tv as im limited to 60fps

if you get a monitor get a 120hz since a 60hz is the same as a tv and you wont benefit from it

It can be good on a large HDTV , as well. But if you are looking for the best performance, then you are going to want the gaming monitor. Even the movement of the mouse pointer is better on 144 Hz monitor.
