I want to extend my gaming profile a bit but am not looking for a high end Crisis support but to get a bit more of my current GPU (geforce 9600gt) and CPU. I like those (256 bit graphic card) and cpu is good too so why not get another geforce card (those are cheap and you can use SLI technology so why not?
I'm not willing to spend lots of money so is this even a good idea?

If you've got lots of money, don't waste your time with old tech. New Intel MB and processor and RAM.
SLI only works well with mid range cards above. The frame time grows to high with low end cards in SLI, and you get stutter.
