I have an intel 4770 k over clocked to 4.7. My friend has an Amd Fx8350. Although he has a real hard time overclocking his system to 4.7 but when he does, the 8350 outperforms my 4770k.

I have been playing battlefield for 10 years, from bf1942 to bf4 of today. When I play on his system I notice the increase frame rates and the play is way better. He has 2 780 it and so do I. All that's different is the cpu and mother board. When the 8350 is clocked to 4.5 it doesn't perform better than the 4770k. It's only when the 8350 is clocked at 4.7 that it outperforms the 4770k at same clocks.

I'm giving up on intel for now and switching over to Amd.
The 9590 is already over clocked to 4.7. And with my custom watercooling I should be able to squeeze every MHz possible.

My friend has a custom loop 3 radiators in a deep freezer. Also has a petiar cooler? Connected to a custom reservoir heat exchanger. His fx8350 gives home troubles overclocking considering the temps are at 40-50 full loads clocked at 4.6. The system will run 30 minutes then crash clocked at 4.7.
The fx9590 clocked at4.7 300 dollars is a great deal.
Does anybody own a fx9590 and are they any regrets......

I know it's not the popular opinion but I saw it myself when my i5 3570k overclocked to 4.2ghz and paired with hd7950 really wasn't that much better than my bro's cheaper a10 5800k on bf4 paired with a gtx 660ti. (certainly not worth the triple price the i5 costs compared to the athlon) If I was on a budget I'd totally get the athlon x4 750k but since you seem to want to spend a bit, try the fx 8350 out and see how it goes for you. I was pleasantly surprised considering all the anti AMD bias online.

I'm no fan of one company or the other, but, for the performance you get for the cheapness, AMD is good. I saw it first hand when I played bf4 on my bros pc 2 days ago on 64man conquest maps. I don't think I'll ditch my i5, it's just very frustrating to get fps dips when I paid this much money for the computer. I guess I'll try Mantle beta drivers but they just insta crashed the game before.

I saw a guy on twitch get 100+ fps constant in 64man conquest Zavod 311 BF4 on ultra with an i7 4770k 4.7ghz and a single gtx 780 while streaming and in skype for what it's worth though.

Well the 4770K outperforms the 8350 in almost every task imaginable. So if you change to a 9590 it will be a straight downgrade.

Clearly something is not right with your system.

Nothing I can think of. Both CPUs are at the same speed. The Amd seems to perform just a hair better at 4.7.

They are at the same clock speed, but clock speed doesn't equate to overall performance. Intel has far better IPC so will outperform an AMD even when the intel has a far lower clock speed. When they're both at 4.7 the AMD shouldn't even touch the intel.

Too many variables can affect things here. Your intel system could be suffering from significant DPC latency spikes, turn off all the energy saving crap in both the BIOS and the OS, dont ever install energy saving software that comes with the motherboard, bare drivers only. Maybe two devices on the system are conflicting even or sharing resources. Lots of potential variables at play...

You wouldn't be able to notice a difference between 4.5 and 4.7 GHz when gaming on that 8350. I have an 8350. As much as I love it the 4770K is a better cpu.

Brilliant. Keep your 4770K, this post is quite pointless if it has no basis.

Did he state that he took any measurements of any kind? I can answer that. No he didn't.

Ha, I mistook you for OP.

I still stand by what I said, and by what you said. If there are no measures involved then it truly is quite a pointless thread.

Never thought I'd see the day someone actually considering a downgrade from a 4770K to an FX 8350.... Lol.

Clearly something's not setup right. The FX 9590 is a complete waste of money for what it is. You're basically paying a huge premium ($130-$140) for an overclocked FX 8350, and it would still get worked over by a 4770K (Which is just about the same price as a 4770K).

Push comes to shove just record your voltages and revert the 4770K back to stock, and overclock again from scratch.

http://www.bf4blog.com/battlefield-4-retail-gpu-cpu-benchmarks/

Scroll just under half way down and you will see that the 4770K is indeed faster than all the AMD's. Even the 5GHz AMD's and that's with the 4770K at stock frequencies. Something's wrong with your system.

Yes I believe the motherboard is faulty. The test that I have taken is me playing bf 4. The temps on the 4770k is between 50-67. On the 8350 is much cooler at load. Both have same ram 999 24. No XMP.
4770k wins in cine bench .but what I still don't understand is, the play in bf4 is much smoother on Amd.almost the same fps according the fraps.

I have to agree here. This sounds like a thermal throttling issue.

Yes it could be throttling down due to heat, but 67 is the max, more stable at60.
My 4770 stays perfect at 4.5 50-55 max temps.and I have heavy cooling. Seems more to me this chip is a bad batch. Overclocks horribly.
An Amd 9590 clocked at 5 ghz and a 4770 k clocked at 4.5. Which one is faster.
