Vote Cast!

Started out as just a system-building enthusiast myself, but am currently a computer engineering student at Penn State University in Erie, PA.

Love anything hardware-related, especially 'vintage/retro' stuff and the good old $99 surplus enterprise servers! I may be a broke college student, but that doesn't mean I can't have a small stack of HP ProLiants beside me for no good reason!

I'm a small business owner/DIY techie.

I've put myself down as an enthusiast, and tech is probably my biggest hobby, but I also fit into the student category for computing, and I've also done some IT technician work part time for a while now.

Voted. Currently in the "enthusiast" category. Retired IT Professional. Built computers, repaired computers, and did computer programming for 32+ years, now I enjoy life at home, and computers have become my toys instead of my job. It's nice to be able to enjoy them instead of fight with them. :)

Tech enthusiast all the way!

Voted. I run the salvage store for my university, and so I often find myself researching hardware and general tech topics on Tom's Hardware. I've also built three computers from parts and am working on a file server for home use, so I crawl the forums pretty often for ideas and troubleshooting.

I voted. I'm a DIY/Hobbyist when it comes to building PCs, however I also do it as my place of employment, which is sort of IT related. I work for a wholesaler of CCTV equipment and we build workstations and servers for surveillance as well as for office use. I also work on DVRs, NVRs, IP cameras, etc.

I'm also an IT Professional ("user support specialist," whether as a LAN Administrator, Hardware Tech, Help Desk, etc. to me it is all "user support"), but I probably chose that line of work because I'm a techie/DIY enthusiast.

May 22, 2014 5:54:24 PM

Voted, I am the touchitanditexplodesviolently guy, and had to repair my computer innumerable times so far. I've repaired everything from the 3 beep nightmare to BSOD, and most odd rareities, less out of wanting than necessity. Decided to finally take matters into my own hands. If I need to do 4 hour research to solve the LESS THAN error (forgot how otherwise I'd help the poor individ. out), may as well have fun doing it... so, enthusiast...

Oh, don't want the drive...
