I am thinking about building a gaming PC for around $1000. I have built a computer before, but it is a lower end PC only for about $500. These are my components I am thinking of using for my $1000 build:

Intel Core i3-3245 3.4GHz Dual-Core Processor
Noctua NH-C14 CPU Cooler
Asus Z77-A ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
AMD Radeon R9 Gamer Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory
Seagate SV35.5 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Asus Radeon R9 270X 4GB DirectCU II Video Card
Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Asus Xonar DG 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card
Asus PCE-N15 802.11b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter
Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD
Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Titanium Grey) ATX Mid Tower Case
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)

Any tips and suggestions on how I can make this better would be awesome

I would go with Haswell instead of Ivy Bridge. There are no advantages at this time to go with Ivy bridge. Also, unless you see yourself running two 270xs in the future, you don't need a Z77(or Z87) motherboard. A much cheaper B or H motherboard would work just as well. There's also no need to spend extra on 2133mhz RAM. 1600mhz is fine and make sure it's 1.5v if using Intel.
