Laptop 30-pin to DVI/VGA

Hello, I have a LG-Phillips LP140WX1 (TL01) laptop screen laying around, and I would like to know if there is anyone able to instruct me on how to convert it to a more desktop-friendly DVI or VGA cable. I have many VGA cables laying around, but I suspect that DVI May be easier because it is 30-pin as well. In reality though, they may be completely different. Thanks in advanced!

This is not exactly an answer to your question, but anyways....

Considering you are mentioning DVI or VGA, I am assuming you may be wanting to use this like an extra monitor. In that case it is almost definitely not worth it either in terms of money, or the effort involved.
The resolution on that screen is ultra low... and I suspect it probably has an equally aweful picture quality like a lot of laptop screen do, since they use cheap TN panels.

For around the same cost as that panel is worth (around $100) you can get a good 21" or 23" 1920x1080 IPS monitor.


Knowing this, do you still want to try? If so, maybe I can find some kind of info to help.

I already have the display, I just found a controller board on eBay for $35. I was wondering if there was a cheaper DIY method so I don't have to waste time and money. I'm cheap.

I was hoping to just throw this LCD on a lamp arm or something and use it as a auxiliary monitor. I need a quick and dirty solution, that's all. Thanks for your help! If there's any other helpful information you have I'm all ears.
