So I am looking at getting a new computer as mine is getting old. My previous computer came from cyberpower PC and I have been happy with it. I have read a lot of people saying how much cheaper it is if I just build it myself. I tried my best to compare a cyberpower PC I would like to if i ordered the parts. The cyberpower comes out at $1940. I used the pickpart tool to try and get either the same components or very similar. The price came out at $1645 so would save me about $300.

My question now comes to is it just worth paying $300 extra dollars to have someone else do all the work and to have warranties on the entire system? I have zero experience building a computer so would likely require a lot of effort to learn how because I am pretty bad at building stuff. Here is the link to pickpart tool. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/mizab/saved/4GYw Here is the cyberpower build, sorry it is a crappy format.

building it your self is better because the parts that you are buying are made better that the prebuilt ones because they are mass produced. i would build it your self. Also building it is fun

My 2 cents: Here on Tom's you're gonna have loads of people telling you to build it yourself. I did that once after buying a new Multiwave years ago. I swapped some of the components out of the Old rig into a newer Barebones to make a 2nd I guess you could call it a Backup PC. The assembly wasn't too bad even with all those little screws they used to have, I understand most stuff locks into place without screws and such now. Cabling is pretty straightforward but back then all those tiny Jumpers drove me nuts. I had a heck of a time trying to figure out why it wouldn't recognize the old CD-ROM (yes, That long ago, Win98!) and why the Soundblaster card was silent. I eventually figured it all out but in the end what I paid for the parts added to the time and effort wasn't worth it to me. A few years later I got my 1st CP rig which lasted about 3yrs before it fried but it was on almost All the time even when I wasn't home so go figure. I was still impressed with CP so now I'm on my 2nd rig with them that has now lasted 7yrs to my surprise and is now badly outdated (Vista!) but keeps on chugging. I'm just waiting for this one to die but hope it doesn't yet. Build? Nah, been there done that. Right now I'm bouncing back and forth between CP & IBuy. They're both pretty close and I would prefer CP but it seems like IBuy is a tad cheaper but doesn't seem to throw in as many extras. Tough choice coming up soon. BTW your budget is better than Twice mine. Must be Nice!
