I have an amd fx 6300 and the cooler master hyper 212 evo cpu cooler. The motherboard that I have is a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P. I want to know what overclock speed I could get without any problems. The cpu comes stock 3.5GHZ and I'm wondering if I could get maybe 4.0GHZ or if possible 4.3GHZ. Im fairly new to overclocking and know there are programs to monitor your cpu temp and see if its getting too hot but I would like to know if anyone knows so I dont have to risk anything and can be safe. Not sure if needed but I have a EVGA 500w 80 plus bronze power supply.

Just increase the clock multiplier a click at a time at run something like Intel Burn Test. I run it for the default 10 pass run. If it passes, go back into BIOS and take the multi up another click. Repeat. But monitor temps at all times. If it gets beyond mid 60C's, it is too warm. Eventually the OC will fail. At that point you have to decide to back off and stop there or raise the core voltage a tad and try again. Since you are a beginner, I suggest you stop with the multiplier for now.

There's no assurance where the limit will be with any CPU. They are all different. But 4GHZ should not be out of the question with that CPU and the multi alone.
