Does anybody have a Kaveri APU for sale at a decent price? I've been wanting to build a mini itx APU build to see how it can perform. If its performance is satisfactory to me, I'll probably sell my i5 desktop at a later date, it's utter overkill for what I do. Most cpu intensive game I probably play is Minecraft and BF4 haha. Will probably pair it with an r9 270 -ish level gpu later on.

And if anybody knows, what's the best FM2+ motherboard for Kaveri for overclocking that is relatively cheap too?

I wish there were mini itx AM3+ mobos....I've been wanting to see how the fx6300 performs in real life usage too. Testing my bro's pc with his a10 5800k and gtx 660ti first hand the other day on BF4 made me realize AMD isn't as bad as the snobs online seem to make them out to be...It matched my i5's FPS in BF4 in the maps I played except on Shanghai 64man conquest his dipped to 35fps on 1080p ultra at the worst and mine was 40ish at the worst, I don't think that was worth the triple cost my CPU cost compared to his. I imagine his FPS would of been even better if I had paired his with an AMD gpu using Mantle in the game as well.

you'll lose your butt if you try to sell your system and replace it. figure 15-20% loss from the original purchase price every 6 months then an additional 5-10% off the top since its used.

while perhaps he is playing on a system which cost less... do factor in that you will be able to play games on higher settings for longer than he will. his system will age much faster. you didnt list your graphics card either. that has alot to do with performance (although the cpu can bottleneck the gpu if its underpowered)

my gpu is the hd7950, on par with his gtx 660ti. Way back my original gpu of choice was actually the gtx 660ti, I heard it compared alot to the 7950 back when they were new, they traded blows.

If I don't find a Kaveri APU cheap I'll probably just get the cheap Athlon x4 760k with some cheap ram and an r9 270 or hd 7790/ r7 260x and stick them in a Cooler Master Elite 130 mini itx case, I don't think spending $100 on the fractal node 304 is worth it >_>

you're right about the losing value, I'll probably keep the i5 desktop as my primary and use the AMD one as a portable LAN build or secondary/backup system. I was just thinking with an APU I could cheap out and not use a GPU and just play stuff on 720p and could also get a cheaper lesser capacity power supply since there would be no gpu. Total system usage using the Kaveri's was less than 200w according to several review sites I've seen, so I was going to go with the cheap Corsair Builder 430w PSU

I just don't see myself really playing CPU intensive stuff at all though, I've had my fill of RTS and MMO over the years and they're not really for me besides the occasional Starcraft 2 game against the A.I. , I mostly play purely console ports I get dirt cheap on various sites, and the consoles are using low powered AMD cpu's, so low powered PCs will be able to play ports for years to come. The minimum requirements for Watch Dogs as much as everybody has been frothing at the mouth about the recommended i7, is only an old core 2 quad. For the longest time the minimum requirements were only a core 2 duo
