When is this baby releasing? I'm literally ready to order my new build any day now, or well sometime around june 2nd, as i'm still waiting on the haswell refresh k chips, but aside from that i've decided on the rest of the components. There is like 0 information ever since the announcement about when this thing is releasing, though its estimated to be Q2, and we're already in the middle of Q2. If there is no new light to be shed at the start of june i may be just tempted to grab the VG248QE, but i'm really itching to move to 1440p since i've never experienced it before, and i feel like a single high end gpu is definitely at the point of running a resolution like that over 60 fps with eye candy on.

Don't think it is 100% confirmed yet, though it should be very soon. Dates are always subject to change, so if there is one, it may not be that day.

Not 100% confirmed? you mean the monitor itself? I'd be really hard pressed if they just cancelled it >_> I mean its strange really how quiet its been, and there hasn't been any built in gsync ready VG248QEs either that would only cost about $100 more instead of paying the $200 for the kit and installing it yourself

yes the monitor, it is not cancelled, it should be out very soon.

If you want a really nice monitor for a good price, go for the Samsung 28" UHD monitor

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA3PC...

That's real nice for the price, 3840x2160 by Samsung 1ms, under $700.

The single gtx 780ti i plan to buy would choke at 4k, plus i just dont feel right adopting 4k while its still in its infancy, but thanks for the suggestion.

I have an R9 290X 4GB, I plan on doing that also, though still early, there mighty good screens. The GTX 780Ti and R9 290X will struggle, especially at gaming, though for games that use 4k to advantage, the difference is amazing.

EDIT: I currently have a 1440p screen.

I was actually seriously considering a R9 290 or R9 290X because they're significantly cheaper than the 780 ti yet give comparable performance and come with 1gb of extra vram, but the thing thats actually holding me back is the fact that gsync would be wasted if i got the rog swift. Now is gsync even worth it if you're already pulling high frame rates like 80-120? Because it seems that gsync shines most when you're in the 40-60 fps range and still retain the smooth feeling of being above 60.

high frame rates like that, nope. at 1440p with modern day games, you'll get less then that and gsync will help.

Well no i was just asking if theoretically i achieved those high frames would gsync even matter? because i wouldn't mind just going for two r9 290s @$900 at 1440p and getting high frames

I said it wouldn't matter at such high frame rates, dual R9 290's would have been beast.

I've owned both a set of asus R9 290x in crossfire and Gtx 780ti reference Overclocked in sli and have to say that overall the ti is noticeably quicker at my resolution which is 5760x1080 on 144hz monitors. I also tried an R9295x2 paired with an additional r9 290x but that caused issues of compatibility, then I tried 3 way reference Ti's but heat became an issue so after all of those combinations I've settled on 2 gtx 780TI reference msi cards Overclocked by 150mhz using precision x and I'm certain this is the best current arrangement from a performance and stability perspective. They are coupled with an I7 4930k at 4.5ghz.

I have this monitor running with one 290x and it does not work 100%. I can get it to run 120hz - but it blinks (off/on) every 1 or 2 minutes. Randomly flickers that makes you crazy.
According to ASUS support its a driver/hardware issue with AMD that makes the monitor not working correctly with AMD cards.
I have tried catalyst 14.4, 14.6 and 14.7.
Have RMA'ed 2 monitors to get one that works and the 3rd one still doesnt work as it should. 144hz is not possible at all.
Will get 1 or 2 780ti's as replacement now - since i want the 144hz and possibly also g-sync.
