There's no sense buying an APU with an on-die GPU if you are going to buy a discrete gfx card. Is this a pre-built or one you are going to build?

OK. Then you probably don't have much choice to customize it. The APU will be fine. It will just have an always-on GPU adding to the package temperature.

If you have the option to change processors, look for the Athlon X4 760K or 750K. They are the same processors as the APUs but w/o an on-die GPU.
On the other hand, you may want the on-die GPU for a back-up gfx device in case the card ever fails. That way you can switch to the motherboard video output and keep running.
