OK, so there's this old (like 90's old) PC game demo I played about building an outpost on Mars. i think it was Mars at least. You could play as human or alien, with you defending your camp from the opposite side. The human tech was mechanical and the alien tech was biological. You had different buildings in your options and you also had like weapons. For example, an automatic turret you could plant and it would protect your perimeter if something from the opposing side crossed into it's range. I remember the human turrets were like motorcycles than rolled out to your desired location and would transform into a turret with the wheels as a base. The alien turrets would slither there and burrow into the ground like a plant and then unfurl and shoot this acidic stuff.
