Im having a hard time deciding between the Asus Z97-Pro (wifi) or the Gigabyte UD5H. Have never bought a Gigabyte mobo before so not sure on the quality, support etc.. The UD5H has a bunch of deals on Newegg, when bundled with a 4770k they take 25$ off the overall price, the Z97-pro (wifi which is currently not in stock) gets no such deals (and 35$ more expensive) but it does have on board wifi which is important to me since I have no LAN ports in the room this rig is going to be placed in. The Gigabyte mobo has more ports but i would have to invest an extra 20-50 bucks on a wifi pci card. Would like to get some opinions on which board to choose.

Agree w/ SR-71, I picked up the Z97 Hero and love it so far (prob will even more when the refresh K models are released), but Asus had the best handle on the Z87 chipset and Haswell and believe that will continue on with the Z97s

Well I do some photo editing and im also going to be programming on it since im an electrical and computer engineering student. IDEs and editing programs like Photoshop would take advantage of hyper threading but at the same time most of them have incorporated GPU acceleration so im not sure which would would offer the most performance for the buck. Im also getting a 4k tv in a couple of weeks, not sure how the gtx770 handles 4k video playback, im sure the gtx780 would have no problem since its kind of overkill on single 1080p monitors.

Well im not sure a 28" monitor is better for viewing moies/tv shows over a 65 inch. I have a separate 1080p monitor for everything else . I was thinking I could double it as a media player because at the moment most of the 4k players are 500-700 dollars with no usb mounting for drives, basically a expensive paperweight. Prices will probably go down in a couple of years after 4k becomes standard as 1080p did but as of now their is no other solution.

As of right now most movies/tv shows are up-scaled from 1080p, but its starting to catch on, House of cards was shot in 4k, and fifa cup will also be broadcasted in 4k as well as 1080p. Would be a waste to buy a brand new 1080p tv right when everyone is transitioning to 4k lol.

What do you think of the r9 290 tri-x? seems to beat out the gtx 780 (from benchmarks ive seen) and also costs 100$ less, would be able to get the i7 and the r9 at that price point.

I'm having a hard time myself deciding between these two. I know ASUS is generally more well-regarded than Gigabyte and I like the built-in wi-fi, but the heat sinks on the UD5H look so awesome and would go perfectly with my two Sapphire Toxic video cards...

I decided to go with the Asus mobo, it was just more feature packed. Has a bunch of streaming capabilities with my Galaxy Note 3, WiFi direct with chromecast functionality. Great Bios and system monitoring. .Also the toxic card is more of an orange color and not yellow. I got the tri-x.
