I have an EVGA GTX 760 gpu and the MSI z97 Gaming 5 mobo.

I have plugged two hdmi cables into the box, one into the gpu, and one into the mobo.

The hdmi from the mobo has no HDMI signal.

How do I go about troubleshooting this issue?

What CPU do you have installed into the motherboard? Depending on the model installed, it may or may not have an integrated video controller.

You may need to go into bios and enable igpu multi monitor. It's usually disabled by default.

+1. This is your answer assuming your CPU has an integrated video controller.
