Hooking up Graphics card to monitor

Hi, I am new to pc gaming and I am building my first gaming pc. I have chosen a EVGA GeForce GTX 770 DUAL SuperClocked 4GB for my graphics card but I am using an older monitor that doesn't support HDMI. Could I use an HDMI- DVI converter to connect my graphics card to monitor or would that not work?

If you have dvi use that but if your monitor has vga you'll need this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814998101

The card should have DVI so just use DVI to DVI.
If the monitor is VGA you should be able to use DVI-I to VGA but I suggest just buying a new monitor
