Gtx 780ti Sli or gtx 780 3 wey on 2k reselution pls help out

Hello I am thinking up to build a tower Pc I badly needed your advice.

I have thought up buying the Asus ROG Swift PG278Q LCD 2k res monitor.

check my current PC requirements

i7 six core 4930k 3.4Ghz

asus p9x79 deluxe intel socket mother b

16 gb dual ddr3 2144 Mhz

3wey gtx 780ti

Crosrair 1000w power b

crosair h60 hydro series cooler

I like to now do i need 3 way or sli for 2k monitor to have some normal fps

and do my computer parts support 2k monitor and motherboard or do i choose my processor right.

and I also thank you for some advice to choose best computer build for gaming on 2k resolution and not have fps drops and other problems.Thanks in advance for all

SLI 780 Ti's would be good. Triple SLI 780s would just be too overkill.

mmmm.... first of all 3 way SLi/xfire doesn't really work all that well, almost nothing supports it, and the fps gain is minimal, so save some cash and ditch the 3rd 780ti.

a 1000W psu isn't enough for 3 780tis in sli... so even if you insist on it, that psu isn't enough. it should be enough for 2 but not 3. Those are 300W gpus; hell i've seen people shove 500W into the classified or kingpin edition versions.

the h60 is a poor cpu cooler. if you want a water cooler get an h100i, a h80i or a x60

~ as to your question, yes, two 780tis in sli will handle 2k resolution; but it's overkill

Secondly, 3gb gpus get ram bottlenecked at high resolutions, either get 6gb versions of those 780tis or get a couple of r9-290x cards.... which perform stellar at those resolutions.

ahhhaha.... oh man... that's egg on my face. never heard the term before and so i was just assuming it was 1/2 the pixels of 4k... nope... seriously wrong on that assumption.

you're right. the op will be disappointed with watchdogs (which is amazingly enough ram bottlenecked in 1080p with just 3gb of vram) but otherwise will be fine with the 780ti... frankly he doesn't need 2 of them for 1080p. one is enough.

The SLI 780Ti's are for futureproofing so that he doesn't need to buy another GPU in another 2 or 3 years. As for the H60, upgrade to a Corsair H100i for that CPU, it can get quite hot if you overclock.

2k is 1920x1080. FPS with 2 780 Ti's on BF4 would look like around 90-120 fps on Ultra. With 3 780s, it would be about the same, but it is more heat and power consumption.

Even in 1440p, 2x780Ti's should be just fine. In synthetic benchmarks, the 3x780's obviously show more performance, but in real world gaming, it is so small that you would not be able to tell a difference. The 3rd GPU would just sit around creating unnecessary heat and taking power. The 1000W would barely be able to handle the 3 780's as well.

2560x1440 is not 2k... I made the same mistake in my original post... this is exactly what i thought 2k was as well. so we both made that mistake.

2k refers to the pixels on the horizontal of the screen.... so 1920x1080 is basically 2k, as it's has roughly 2,000 pixels running horizontally across the screen. 4k refers to 3840x2160 3,840~4,000 across the top, hence 4k.

So if you're talking 1440p then when i originally said about needing more vram then 3gb on the cards still stands. you'll want more vram to futureproof you

If you plan to render videos, get 16 GB, otherwise, 8 GB is plenty,
