Oh man, so many options!

I recently had a flood at our condo, and we lost everything. Of course, insurance is involved, but I have many things that require replacing. One of those things is my video card.

I know all the 780s are more than enough for 1080p gaming, but there are 2 specific ones I think I've narrowed it down to.

I'm looking at the EVGA 780 Classified, or the Zotac AMP! 780...
(I should probably point out the price of these 2 cards are pretty much on par with eachother here locally)

I've never owned EVGA or Zotac, and everyone seems to think very highly of EVGA. I'm just curious what you pros would recommend :)

The zotac specs look pretty appealing with the higher clock speeds. There are many reviews out there with benchmarks, but I can't seem to find one that pits these 2 specific cards head to head for performance, noise, and efficiency info.

Advice?
Thanks!

Zotac makes some ok cards, but not as good as EVGA.
The higher clock speeds come at the cost of cooling performance, and overall quality. With the EVGA model, the cooler is better and you can OC to the same speeds easily.

I would say EVGA.

Thanks for the info, I'm not really hardcore into overclocking, so that's why I was actually considering the stock clock speeds...but I think you make a valid point, and I'm leaning towards EGVA as well.

Zotac does make an appealing package though with their pricing and bundled games included as well (some splinter cell bundles)...which sorta makes it stand out over the EVGA package...tough call though!

But I respect this site and if you guys seem to think EVGA is the way to go then that's what I'll do! :)

Thats one way to tell the quality of the card, the more goodies it has, the lower quality it is (for the most part)
EVGA offers watchdogs right now, and when I got my 760, I got a free backplate.

EVGA it is then, thanks guys. Off I go to the CPU and motherboard forums to see what else I need =D

how much you want to spend on a mobo and cpu

To be honest, I guess bang for my buck is what I look for. I don't get the opportunity to upgrade very often (maybe every few years). I'm not an enthusiast like many are on here, but I'd consider myself a heavy user (maybe I'll play 1 game a year, but I want it to play WELL). Home theatre/home automation/gaming/video processing are all uses that I use (although I currently use different machines for different things)

I'm looking at staying under $200 for mobo, and maybe the i5-3670k. This 3670k is probably fine for my use, although I'm questioning if I should just go with the hyperthreading 4770k if it buys me a longer window without upgrading. But I'd like to keep the mobo/cpu under 500 which might not be possible if I stretch out to the 4770k...

Usually I upgrade when something dies...:)

how far are you from the border

About 2 hours or so. I'd have to factor in our horrible exchange rate as well, but I suppose it's still an option. Depending on the savings, it may or may not be worth it. I'll definitely look into it though, thanks for the link!
