Hi Folks,

I am making a steam in-home stream box for my living room and are my specs good enough?

mobo = MSI H61I-E35-V2/W8 H61
ram = 4gb 1600 or 8gb 1600
psu = 500w cooler master (bundled with a elite 130 case) (http://www.ebuyer.com/544921-coolermaster-elite-130-min...)
gpu = asus gt640 2gb
cpu = intel core I5 3300
hdd = will get a generic one i have spare ones
os= SteamOS

My one concern is that is my home hub any good for this, as my family has a BT hone hub V3 and there is only I and one other person that power uses the box for playing steam games, web browsing, and BBC Iplayer / youtube. (one last thing to note the steam stream box will be wired and my main g-pc will be using a high end wifi reciver)

Any help would be great thanks,

Dave.

I have heard that some people using bog standard laptops and or low end apu type machines, so it should be fine i think (also i had been using that exact gpu before with 2 monitors and getting good fps at 1080 on some games at med graphics) cause i am not that fussed about 1080p streaming 720 or something less is fine and i don't mind lowering the quality of the game, though my main rig should be able to handle it (for anyone interested my main rig is a gtx 770, asrock cheap 1155 itx mobo, 750 corsair cx psu, 16gb 1600 ram, generic cooler for my I7 2700k, and for the case it is a bitfenix prodigy itx, 2 bitfenix built in fans, and 2 more generic pmw fans, 1x500gb 2.5 hdd, 1x 5003.5 wd blue, 1x seagate 320gb hdd, 1x seagate 160gb hdd)

my mom's i5 laptop with no gpu handles being a stream client super easy there is no real effort on that end because its basically just a video feed. if you only plan to stream the games a gpu is unnecessary on that end if you want to have some games installed on it however...

Thanks to you both for the information I have already jumped the gun and tried it for a few days and forgot to reply :p , anyway it works like a charm, no lag or nothing.

@urmamasllama the gpu though is mostly for H.264 decoding, not sure if the i5 would be good enough for that as it is a desktop cp, ur laptop might have a videocard inside it, and also the gpu is there cause this pc is going to someone for their (lucky) birthday :) :)
