So for the past 10 days I've been gathering my list of parts that my new custom built PC will have, and it's going very well. I will be ordering everything from the website http://www.tigerdirect.com, and I will not order any parts from any website other than them, as for they are giving me free 2 day shipping on all the parts and I've had excellent experience with them in the past.
This computer will be used for music creation and editing in FL Studio, basic video editing, some gaming (with the most resource intensive game I will ever be playing being Skyrim) and high multitasking performance matters ALOT (I don't want massive slowdowns when I have 4-8 programs running.) Gaming though, is the least important aspect to me with this build (aside from being able to play Skyrim with better frame rates than the PS3 did), as I own a PlayStation 4 and I fully intend on playing ANY and all next-gen games on that console.
Here is the list of parts I will be ordering along with links to the manufacturers webpages for the specifications, and the tigerdirect webpages for the products listing information. (NOT including any savings the rebates may be offering, as they do not apply at checkout) (please note that I already have a 3.5" 1tb 7200rpm hard drive, a 180gb Intel solid state drive, a backlit keyboard, mouse, and operating system) TigerDirect is giving me free 2 day shipping on all parts being ordered.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H $189.99 http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4978&dl=#ov
Processor: Intel Core i7-4770k $349.99
http://ark.intel.com/products/75123
Power Supply: Coolmax ZU-1000B 1000 watts $109.99 http://www.coolmaxusa.com/productDetailsPower.asp?item=ZU-1000B&details=overview&subcategory=140mm&category=80plus
RAM: Adata XPG V2 series 8gb DDR3 2400mhz (2x4gb sticks) $79.99
Graphics Card: Sapphire Dual-X Radeon R9 270 Video Card (overclocked) - 2GB GDDR5, PCI-Express 3.0 $159.99 http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/product_index.aspx?pid=2039&lid=1
(there is a large possibility that I may buy a second one of these cards within 4-6 months of me purchasing the computer and run them in crossfire)
Case: Thermaltake Chaser MK-1 VN300M1W2N (2x 200mm fans, 1x 140mm fan; can be expanded with an additional 200mm and 140mm fan) $149.99 http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001719
(deciding on a case has been the most difficult part of this build surprisingly, as for I am hesitant to spend more than $99 on a case)
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo $34.99 http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-air-cooler/hyper-212-evo/
Thermal compound for cooler: Cooler Master thermal compound $7.99
All that added up (not including any rebates) totals to $1082.92
This is stretching my budget more than I'd like, I didn't want to spend more than $1000 for all the parts (not including the price of a monitor) I know I could be saving myself a good $100 if I went with an i5 processor, but I am absolutely not willing to go any lower than the i7 I listed. I am an enthusiast, and I love the idea of overclocking an already massively overpowered i7.
I do not need a internal disc drive as I see absolutely no use for one at this point in time. I'm going to assume that everything is going to come with all the necessary peripherals and cables needed to connect everything. The last thing I need is a monitor. I do have a 32" Vizio smart TV but I really want a seperate monitor dedicated for this computer, the issue is that all of these parts really stretch my budget, and I was wondering, do I need a power supply of such strength? Aside from the parts I listed, and mentioning that I may run the Radeon r9 270 in crossfire down the road, the only things I will add in the future are an internal bluray drive, and a premium soundcard (since music editing and creation is important to me) the power supply I listed was $109.99, and I was wondering if I could get away with something that was $70 or under. Also, the computer case is very controversial to me. I really did not want to spend more than $100 on a case, but I do want a case that has VERY good air cooling, as I do very well intend to overclock the i7 to 4.1ghz-4.3ghz without using liquid cooling. There are 2 other cases that I would consider, here are the links to them on tigerdirect: NZXT Phantom PHAN-001RD 104.99http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7693068&Sku=N500-1149
Azza CSAZ Solano 1000 $119.99 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=41023&Sku=A702-0007
The Azza case really piqued my interest because of the good price and the astounding stock cooling it comes with (2x 230mm fans, 1x 140mm fan, and 1x 120mm fan) The reason I'm still leaning to the $149.99 Thermaltake chaser MK-1 I have listed in the build is because of the review video I watched. It showed and described all of its features, and how everything inside it works, and it is by far the simplest and most visually appealing case of the 3 choices in my opinion.
As for the issue of the monitor, I cannot spend more than $100 on one. I do need the monitor to be full HD 1920x1080, and I will not suffice anything lower than that. If anyone can recommend the best monitor I can buy with those specs and price limit, it would be much appreciated.
