So the new line of WD drives, the purple range, are targeted at security and boasts "Less frameloss when constanstly recording"

Seems to me like it would be great for dedicated gameplay capture drive.

Although WD Reds look pretty good too...

I'm looking at installing a dedicated gameplay video capture drive soon, so insight would be fantastic :)

In my opinion, I would go for a WD Blue or Black Drive. On top of this, try to go for a drive with at least 1TB+ of storage capacity. This will give you fast enough write speeds and plenty of storage.

The WD Purple range are targeted at 24/7 use which I don't think your looking for.
