Just wondering since I can't afford on of this awesome GPUs myself. I am getting a gtx 780 ti and i7 4770 btw. Will this be enough for single monitor 1080p gaming?

The i7 and the 780 ti is a great combination and will give you superb performance for a while.

A titan z is a waste of money, getting an r9 295x2 is cheaper and better. (There isn't a such thing as overkill, unless there is a graphics card that can give you a constant 120+ fps)

there is no overkill on pc gaming, 780ti is the best you can get, sli does not count as its do not work on everything.
titans in any form are gaming productivity hybrids and do not give much extra to games.
i5 4670 and 780ti is about the best you can get right now until devils canyon comes.
so many games drop below 60fps with said hardware and therefore can not be overkill. 144fps gaming or higher resolution gaming does need even more power.

GTX = Gaming
Titan = Gaming/Programming benefits

Why is this half way point important? So programmers can take their work home or use it on regular computers with different types of processors, be able to work on it and see what the game plays like on a single or sli 780tis (since you can disable 1 gpu at any point) all with one card.

OP: As a i7/780ti owner I couldn't be happier. Although a titan z/295x will get better FPS overall how pissed would you be if you bought one of those crazy GPUs, played Titanfall or Watch Dogs and ended up with single card performance due to bad multi-gpu performance. I would be furious!

I use the Titan Black for rendering in 3D. They are super-fast at this, and the 6GB of VRAM is actually useful.

By the way, two GTX Titan Blacks is better and cheaper than one Titan-Z, unless you need the 12GB of VRAM.
