Hi Guys,

I'm in the architectural visualization field and I'm making a slim wall mounted case for our dedicated render computer.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte Z77M-DH3-MVP with a 3770k (not overclocked) with 12gb RAM. Being a render comp, we don't have a GPU and have a small HD.

I'm looking around for a slim PSU but can't really find anything. There's some out there for the slim Dell computers, but from what I've read, they have dedicated pins for the mobo, etc.

Can anyone recommend a very slim PSU? Considering the specs of the computer, wouldn't have to have significant wattage.

Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Chris

What your looking for is whats called an SFX power supply, comes in a different form factor than normal ATX ones (all the plugs and such are the same though).

If that isnt small enough, the most I can think you can do would be too pull out a PSU from the EVGA Hadron Air, which has a completely custom PSU that is very slim and long built just for that case.

Thanks for the response mate.

The Silverstone is a little too big given that its fan is perpendicular to the socket, meaning I'd have to allow clearance for airflow (I'm intending to have the front of the case 1 piece of wood laminate). 6.5 - 7cm is the thickest I'd like to go.

Evga looks interesting - I'm in Australia and the only ones I can find locally are $280+ AUD.

Ideally I would like something similar to a 1u or 2u server rack. Am i s*** out of luck?

Perhaps something like this?

More square than rectangular. Cant for the life of me think what those slim-line Dell's use, you might want to look up the different PSU specifications. So far ATX and SFX are out, the link above is TFX.

Hmm, much better but I'd still like to get something a little smaller with regards to the height.

As far as I know Dell uses proprietary pins that won't fit into a 3rd party mobo?

Not sure to be honest, but something tells me that they wouldnt come up with their own proprietary hardware for that purpose.
Most I can say in regards to that is try opening one up and have a look.
