I found this XFX R9 280 on Amazon for a great price, but I want to know if there is a catch. Is this a good GPU? Here is the link:

The r9 280 GPU's are all good cards and I think that you should be fine with that GPU and for that price, I don't think that you'll be disappointed with the card

I have a few questions. First, on Newegg, it lists that a 750W PSU is required. Is this correct, or would I be fine using a 600W PSU? Secondly, would this GPU fit on my motherboard? Here is a link to the motherboard I am using:

Thanks for the help.

It will fit with the motherboard. What 600W do you have though. There are varying quality of 600W power supply. If it is a CX 600 then i would recommend you to change it as soon as possible, the quality inside can't handle well under stress and heat compared to other alternatives. A 550 quality power supply will be fine with a R9 280X.

This is the power supply I was going to use:

What would you recommend? I am trying to stay within the $750 to $800 range. Here is a link to the build:

The EVGA one is better than the Corsair CXM 600. I would choose the EVGA over the Corsair CXM 600.

Yes it is fine. The recommendations are exaggerated for the lowest quality power supply even though they are not recommended to be used anyway.

In regards to the GPU, from what I've read there is a concern that the R9 series can tend to get too hot at times. Should I be concerned that this GPU could get too hot and possibly overheat?

These were R9 290 and R9 290X reference model with a single fan on the cooler. The non-reference models have good coolers so it is not a problem any more.

if you put some more case fans in, you should be just fine, you are unlikely for them to ever get that hot anyway when they have a non stock cooler.
