Hi there,

I am building a new main Windows PC and my primary uses for it are: Gaming, watching movies, and web design/web development work. I have worked out the following build and need to make sure that everything is compatible. I've worked out just about everything but the heat sink, cooler, and power supply I will need to run everything. Plus I could use some help to make sure that I am not forgetting anything before I purchase. I already have the monitor worked out separately.

Will the parts below work well together?

CPU
Intel i7-4820K LGA 2011 64 Technology Extended Memory CPU BX80633I74820K

Motherboard
Asus Rampage IV Formula LGA 2011 intel X79 SAT 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Video Card
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 6GB video card

Hard Drive
Samsung 840 EVO Series 1 TB HD

Heat Sink - ?????

Cooler - ????

Power supply - ????

RAM
Kingston Hyper X Blu 4GB - 24 GB RAM

Case
Cooler Master HAF 922 - High Air Flow Mid Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 and All-Black
Interior

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit or Ultimate 64-bit (haven't decided yet)

Thank you CAaronD! I altered some aspects of my build because I wasn't sure I needed more than a 4GB video card either :) I'd much rather spend that other money on RAM and get 32 GB of RAM instead...bahahahaha...I will post the new specs of my build shortly.

Due to parts availability (at least according to the site) I had to alter my build a little bit. I'm spending a little more, but I'd rather get everything I'd ever want and need with this build. Here is my updated build. I didn't go with the Corsair power supply mentioned above because according to a NewEgg review there has been a recall on the 750w and 850w power supplies. I went and did some research and decided to increase the amount of power in the power supply due to my additional RAM. The cooler looks insanely awesome though so I'm getting that :) It will be my first liquid cooling machine.

Anyway...here's my latest build. Does anyone see any compatibility issues with any parts listed below? I am planning on pulling the trigger on everything over the next few days.

CPU
Intel Core i7-4820K Ivy Bridge-E 3.7GHz (Turbo 3.9GHz) LGA 2011 130W Desktop Processor

Motherboard
ASUS Sabertooth X79 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

RAM (qty of 4 x 8GB to equal 32 GB RAM)
G.SKILL Ripjaws X series 16 GB (2 x 8GB) 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Hard Drive
Samsung 840 EVO 2.5" 1TB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive

Video Card
EVGA 04G-P4-3768-KR GeForce GTX 760 FTW 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card w/EVGA ACX Cooler

Optical Drive
Pioneer Blu-Ray Burner SATA BDR-209DBK

Case
Cooler Master HAF 922 - High Air Flow Mid Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 and All-Black Interior

Power Supply
EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G1 120-G1-1000-VR 1000W ATX 12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply Intel 4th Gen CPU Compatible

1,000W is overkill for your build though :) You only need a maximum of 850W other than that everything is fine. Why don't you change the 4GB card to a R9 280x or GTX 770. r9 280X has 3GB of GDDR5 which is plenty enough if you're going single monitor and you can probably save $5-10 or have the same price as the 4GB GTX 760. Unless you want to save some extras then just go for normal gtx 760. Also you can use PCpartpicker.com to check compatibility of parts :) Those parts are all compatible though. Let me suggest some adjustments though :D

So I made this build for $100 less than your previous :D You will be able to run every single game up to date on maxed settings 60 FPS

CPU: Intel Core i7-4820K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor
MOBO: Asus Sabertooth X79 ATX LGA2011 Motherboard
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory I dropped 16GB because 32 GB is way more than enough, unless you really want it then you can take it :)
Storage: One for the OS and frequently used programs and for storage space, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive, Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive.
Graphics card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Superclocked ACX Video Card, This is one of the best if not the best single GPU card in the world for now :)
Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 ATX Mid Tower Case
Disk drive: Pioneer BDR-209DBK Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer
Power supply, not really sure :p but 850W is sufficent

Everyone: Thank you SOOOO MUCH for your help! I bought all my parts and I am spending a few hours tomorrow to put it together. This is my final build, coming in at about $2,000.00.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4820K Ivy Bridge-E Quad-Core 3.7 GHz LGA 2011 CPU

Motherboard: Gigabyte LGA 2011 GA-X79-UP4

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 FTW 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCIE card

Case: Antec 1200 V3 Black Steel ATX Full Tower

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866 - will be upgrading to 32GB soon.

Hard Drive: Western Digital 1TB SATA 64MB Cache

Optical Drive: Pioneer Blu-Ray burner SATA

Network card: Linksys Wireless N PCI Network Card

Power Supply: Corsair RM850 850 Watt ATX Power Supply (I was quite surprised with how massive this box is...I know it's just the box size but it is pretty massive).

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Sound Card (will be buying this in a few weeks; for now I can use on board audio): Creative Sound Blaster Z SBX PCIE card

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (I will never support nor use Windows 8.1 after the issues I had with Dell's Win8.1 auto maximizing screens in which 1. No tutorial I tried online worked, 2. They could not even fix it themselves after logging into my computer). The whole reason for me going back to building my own computers. Anyway...sorry about the rant...but yeah - Windows 7 - got the 64-bit OEM disc at Fry's.

I should take a picture of the parts all together tomorrow morning and will post those, along with pics of the final build up and running...here! :)
