As above, I can't find a clear answer anywhere on the net.
Building a development PC going to be used for plotting, modelling, and rendering high res 3d environments, so the more RAM the better!

But just cant find solid info as to which sticks to get? Considering Dominator Platinum's but not sure which frequency speed to pick up, 2400mhz is an option (don't mind the price) but no point getting it if its not supported.

Any and all advice is welcome!

Acording to AMD, maybe 1333, though I've seen a couple that could pull 32GB at 1600, haven't seen one yet that can carry 32GB of 1866 and be near stable... I get a fair number of calls on upgrades and such on AMD rigs so try and test different sets of DRAM in them, sorry to say but AMD just doesn't have a very strong MC (memory controller)

Thanks for the answer! The site I'm ordering from has 1600 and 1866 for the same price, if I pick up god1866 sticks They'd clock back to 1333 and if I won the chip lottery would be able to run at 1600 too, and if the gods approved and stars aligned I could attempt at 1866?

Is this a stupid idea I.e. Underclocking the sticks to 1333/1600 from 1866?

Not really with pricing the same, if you were to upgrade the CPU or do a new build, then the DRAM is there and available....if it won't carry them at 1866 (and should definitely try, be happy to try and help) then in dropping to 1600 can see if stable and at that point try and tighten timings down which can increase the performance to near 1866 levels
