Hi guys! I need some help!

A few days ago I tried to fire up an emulator. For some reason, my screen froze and everything began to look all glitchy. This never happens, so I restarted it and everything was still glitchy and my resolution was off. The glitchiness resembles some faint blue lines going across the monitor's display. I've experimented with a few monitors and it is the same sort of glitchiness each time.

When my computer restarted the resolution was super funky. I think it was 800x600 on a widescreen monitor. So I went to change it and it would only allow me up to 1600x1200 which is still a bit wonky. My former resolution was 1920x1080.

My drivers were all up to date but I re-installed them to try and fix this. I usually always end up dealing with nvlddmkm.sys BSOD after restarting with updated drivers and older drivers that were reported to work better. I also tried using system restore as per request of a few friends, I've tried the cmd nvlddmkm.sys fix thing, I've tried using CCleaner, I've also tried getting Nvidia Control Panel open and nothing ever worked. Here's another shot for you guys, hoping this helps :

I've also read that formatting doesn't seem to help much. :(

I tried purchasing a new graphics card but I was a total idiot, didn't really check it, and it didn't fit. The one I have looks just like this and I ordered this. I am not a clever person. :(

So what should I do guys? I've read all over these forums for a long time trying to figure out a solution! I'm just hoping someone might tell me that a new graphics card would totally help fix this and can help me find a graphics card that will fit in my case!

Oh yeah. I'm running in that last known configurations that worked setting instead of Safe Mode for now!

Any help I can get is MUCH APPRECIATED! <3333

A 470 is equivalent to a what would be a GTX740. You need a new one. A new CPU wouldn't go a miss either
June 8, 2014 7:15:35 AM

Hmm I'm not getting many helpful results when I try to look for a GTX740. :(  By the way I did try cleaning out my graphics card and the whole inside of my computer before anyone else asks!

I hope I don't need a new CPU! That would be nuts!

an i7 of any case, is a CPU that shouldn't need an upgrade currently.

Okay, so it seems like I should just order a graphics card that fits, make sure all of my old drivers are completely uninstalled before I install and update the new one, and hope for the best?

Any more suggestions on graphics cards? <3333333334652347

what was your other suggestion? What budget do you have?

Graphics card tends to always work if it is supported by system, so there tends to be no hoping but guaranteed working.

erase all old drivers and install new ones, yes.

I had ordered this one before but it didn't fit. Something cheaper than this one might be nice. I was able to return it to NewEgg because they're awesome. :)

what's your case? How much bigger was the card compared to max GPU length?

-Do you also have the ability to remove sensations of HDD cage to make way for larger cards?
June 8, 2014 7:55:25 AM

Unfortunately I'm not very familiar with all of that but I can take pictures! :)  By didn't fit I just mean the output (back with the HDMIs) didn't seem to fit.

well, If you list the case, that should be all the info we need to tell.

Okay! Bear with me but what is the best way to do that?

name of it, if it's pre-built then name the PC, if it's a custom PC look everywhere on the case for any sort of numbers and ID. The box may help if you have it.

Hmm, I definitely don't have the box but I found this :

since it has limited info on that case, could you measure from inside the case, rear where the brackets are to where you first hit the HDD bay, that'll give us a number of what length you can have.
June 8, 2014 8:16:39 AM

Hmm like I said I am not super savvy. Is that from roughly this distance? :(

yes, it appears it can also go under, which may give you an advantage.

Is that hollow box where the card "hits" removable?
