Hello! This is my first post on here after making an account because this seems to be where I keep ending up in much of my PC building research. I have a question involving my power supply. This is my build:

Intel 4790k (Upon release)
Noctua d14
MSI Gaming 7 Motherboard
EVGA GTX 770 SC 2 gb
G Skill X Series 16 gb ram (2x8)
120 gb SSD
1 tb HDD
Corsair CX750 bronze semi modular

I thought I had made a great purchase with the PSU when I nabbed it for $50, but then I began to read about how the CX is a lower tier and should not be used on quality builds.

Is this true? Or will this PSU be just fine with my build above?

Thanks!

To answer your question: No, I would not use that PSU in a build like that. It is not designed for high end builds.

My question: How many of these parts have you purchased? And where are you located (US, Canada, UK, Australia, etc)?

Alright. Well, this is the PSU I would recommend, it is built by Seasonic using quality parts and will provide stable power for years to come.

When it comes to the CPU, I have a question for you. What will you be using the computer for? Gaming, Livestreaming, Video Editing, or? If just gaming, pick up the i5-4690k, it's all you'll need.

When it comes to GPU, if you can afford it, this GTX 780 is great for the price.

If not, these two graphics cards are great choices.

Thanks for the input! I plan on doing all the things you listed. I have done a decent amount of gaming, streaming, and editing on my current, pre built rig, from years ago and am ready to step up.

I have been interested in the 290, but I have heard about some high temps and the card being noisy. The SC 770 is exactly what I had in mind, but I am still looking around. Thanks for the help.

It seems that everyone agrees that I made a poor decisions with the CX series PSU. After researching elsewhere as well, I have decided that I definitely need to step up. Im looking at the EVGA Super Nova 750w Gold and its $95, thoughts?

The EVGA Supernova G2 is listed as a Tier One PSU. "Tier one - The highest quality and most stable PSUs available on the hardware market today. Highly recommended for any situation"

In other words that would be a good option. The XFX (Seasonic) PSU I listed before is Tier Two, so the EVGA one would be great.
