I'm currently running Windows 7 on a basic Seagate Hard Drive. I just bought a Samsung 840 EVO SSD. I want to install WIndows 7 onto the SSD, boot up the W7 from the SSD, and have my Seagate as a secondary storage drive.

How would I go about doing this? Would it work if I:

1) Unplugged my Seagate
2) Plugged in my SSD
3) Installed Windows 7 onto the SSD
4) Re-plug the Seagate back in
5) Go into BIOS and set the SSD as the hard drive to boot first

I don't want to reformat my Seagate because there are a lot of stuff on the hard drive that would be hard to replace.

There won't be any problems activating Windows 7 on the SSD either right? I plan to use the same product key as the one on my Seagate.

OEM copies are locked to the motherboard and since its on the same mb so it should be trouble free .
Its not locked to a hard drive so you should have no issues activating again .
