Hey guys, I have an interesting project I need help on... I wanted to build my brother an interesting gaming computer... So I decided I wanted to use the case of an old Xbox Original to build it with.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/43/Xbox...

We are going to scrape out all the parts and start fresh. I plan on doing a few mods to the case to improve ventilation (I would like ideas on that)

I want this to be a quiet, cheap, small computer... But still be fast. its going to be playing games like BF4, Watch dogs, all the new titles. He wont be doing any Rendering or anything like that. Just youtube, reddit, steam games, other games etc.

BUDGET is $500-$600 and I want it to walk circles around the Xbox one and PS4.

This also means Small mobo, and graphics card to fit. We could probably lay the Graphics cars sideways and mount it in and just use a PCI extender... Give me Ideas

I also want to replace the top green circle with a clear piece of glass and LED's.. Then replace the controller ports with USB ports for wireless keyboard and mouse. Its going to have a built in Xbox 360 controller wireless receiver

Current configuration: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pxxH8d

Thanks guys!

P.S. If there is a better category to put this in please let me know

Neither do I. Consider using some sort of external power brick (I heard of those but I've never seen them myself).

I'm going to try and do the same thing and am also looking for some input. Based on personal opinion I don't know if we'll be able to get something that completely runs circles around current gen consoles. From measuring the inside of the original xbox, I'm not sure if the mobo you picked will fit. I'm going to see if I can do it with a mini-ITX, but you could also maybe try a micro-ATX. We shouldn't need all those extra PCIe slots. I'm going to try the following, but I also need ideas on whether these would work or not.

I do want to note that I already have the GPU (which I will have to plug up using a PCIe extender cable)... I used in it the build so I could see the Wattage estimate and then I found that mini-ITX 400W PSU. I plan on adding a NZXT Fan hub so that I can hook up all those 50mm fans and have half on the left and half on the right all blowing the same direction so some are pulling in cooler air and others pulling out the hot air. I'm also going to use the below low profile CPU fan.
