Anyone know a Monitor that is easy on eyes?

If there is or are specific or even just any half decent monitors that do not cause eye strain I would like to hear some suggestions. Even switching from an AOC Tn panel to a VG24QE 144hz is noticeable. I did not know that TN panels are typically not helpful when you have eye strain

Solution
Hopefully that's got a lot in common with the p2414h:
here's a detailed review:

I never buy anything these guys don't recommend. They have detailed information on lag time, ghosting, backlight flicker, etc... While most sites just say "I didn't notice any lag" or "the glossy screen looks nice."

They also maintain a list of all flicker free monitors (monitors that vary the direct current, rather then flickering using pulse width modulation PWM)

For eye strain, the type of backlighting is far more important then the panel tech. Some backlights flicker when set below 100%, in fact this is how they dim the lighting (setting them to 50% causes them to switch on and off evenly). The only place I know of that reviews this is tft-central.

Other than that, warmer backlighting causes less eyestrain. Running through an analog interface, like vga or DVI-A can cause the image to be unstable, and also causes eye strain.

Some panels have shoddy inverters, you can test that here: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/inversion.php
Inversion problems happen because panels have to swap positive and negative charges every frame(every other pixel in a checkerboard pattern), if those aren't aligned exactly you'll get a little bit of flicker in an image.

Basically, more expensive panels use better inverters and backlights, but it's not specific to any lcd tech(tn,ips,va, etc...)

I do like what they offer but I am not a Fan of Dell at all. Mostly due to what they price Alienware at. I like the user reviews of a few Dell monitors. If I went dell i would get : http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260148. I was going to wait for a Deal or new 1440p Display. I like IPS from what I have seen vs PLS.

Good thread. I like the last post about gaming "eyewear" I am prone to headaches from light in general. The Asus VG24QE has mediocre image at best for movies and desktop. games look good. Pictures are terrible, But I did not get a 144hz panel to stare photo. The glasses are expensive though. i could probably just use cheap Drug mart glasses.

I was wondering which IPS to get. as far as I know there are 4 that are commonly used in Consumer grade LCD displays. H-IPS, E-IPS, P-IPS, and AH-IPS( 2011 or 2012.) Some don't really Specify. all I see is IPS panel.. I really want an IPS monitor. I use the Asus 144hz for gaming but when I am not gaming i notice how bad it can look. the Stand is great though allowing to adjust accordingly to the poor viewing angles. I recently saw a Asus PB278Q which uses a PLS Panel at 1440p side bu side with an AOC 23 or 24"IPS monitor and i was really surprised at how good the AOC looked in a movie to the PLS Panel. I was going to go with the ASUS PB Series PB278Q 27" as the price is decent as it is usually on sale on newegg. As The 4K Displays get cheaper a high priced 1440p Display seems to not make sense. Mind you the 4K monitors out now have their share of issues, like scaling for one. I may as well wait on a 1440p or higher and get a decent IPS now for my eyes

I have this monitor "ASUS PB Series PB278Q 27", love it. the pixels difference from 1080p is noticeable but you can feel the difference on your eyes due to the screen size if you used to game on smaller screens.

The smaller the screen, the less effect on your eyes in general, and also the further away you sit, the less of an effect you'll have.

H-IPS and AH-IPS can both go as high as 10bit color, everything seems to be 6bit+FRC (more or less 8 bit)

As for 4k panels, I've been watching the tv market. Seiki makes a 39" 4k VA tv which would be perfect as a monitor, except it only does 30hz at 4k. It costs less than $400.

Next year, when the hdmi 2.0 version comes out, it will support 60hz at 4k. That's the one I want.
