Hi, it seems that my r9 290 will not work as diplay port 1.2 in 4k (60hz) even though it says it supports this feature. I have the catalyst 14.6 beta driver installed on windows 8.1 64 bit. Im using the new AOC U2868PQU monitor and have made sure that the monitor is in DP 1.2 mode. it works fine in 30Hz mode other than it being yahno, 30Hz.
Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

yeah, no joy in single gpu either, although testing onboard gpu may be pointless as im not sure if z77 supports dp1.2 anyways

EDIT: just checked, HD 4000 is only DP 1.1, so no point in testing it

I also dont seem to be the only AMD user to experience this issue on the new 60Hz 4K monitors which leads me to believe its AMDs poor drivers or BIOS atm

so it is still flickering? try the other gpu and or beter yet try this display with another computer and what exactly do you mean by flickering? backlight flicker? or will the whole display flicker? and finaly have you tried using dual hdmi to se if that fixed it

well have you tried the other gpu? if its still bad im tempted to say its a bad montior but i dont know why it would only do it at 60hz, so when you instaled the beta drivers you COMPLETLY unistalled the old drivers beforehand

Bit of a long shot here but have you tried launching a game or watching youtube (flash!!) when at 60Hz? I noticed my old 5770 couldn't keep a stable image at 144Hz 1080p (flickering, blinking and tearing) when idling but did just fine as soon as the clocks went higher... 120Hz was fine even when idling.

edit is the monitor a single headed one? most 60Hz 4k monitors so far have been dual headed so they appear as 2 monitors in windows and use MST to hit that 60Hz...

ive ordered a DP 1.2 cable just in case (only cost me £10 so no biggie) we'll see when it arrives on thursday, until then im going to continue asking xfx support if they know of any issues with their dp1.2 compatability on their cards, as i havent seen any nvidia users or reviewers reporting this problem

The monitor fully supports 60Hz (rather than being limited to 30Hz) at its native UHD resolution using DisplayPort. It will use SST (Single-Stream Transport) rather than MST (Multi-Stream Transport) to achieve this. In other words the operating system sees it as one monitor which is more straightforward in terms of applications displaying things properly.
....
An early June arrival is expected in the UK with the screen priced at around £500 including VAT.

ok, that's neat :D
