I was wondering if running steam on linux would provide perhaps a boost in performance, or fps or anything to gameplay on the games that are available on linux, compared to their windows counterparts, because linux is supposed to be very easy on your system and almost effortless to run compared to windows If i understand correctly ( feel free to correct me if im wrong)

thought, concerns anything ( question mark)

More about : linux windows

this should help you with the dual boot.
at first you where not able to dual boot steam os but that has changed.
tea urchin found a realy good article that explains most of your questions.
if you want a opinion it is still in beta and there are still optimizations that need to be made.
if you dual boot you will hardly run steam os you will just use it for a few days or hours to naigate around or maybe play a free game.you can not crank up the settings as you would on a windows pc.and a lot of features are not available.nvidia physics is one of them.
there are not a lot of AAA games but when steam machines hit the market in 2015 we will see more coming out.

I just installed SteamOS on some older hardware. It's just OK. I don't see any reason right now as to why it would be better than just running steam desktop client. I run it on my hackintosh and the client is just easier to deal with right now. Don't waist time dual booting. I buy only steam play games that are supported on mac and linux.
