Recently I received my GTX 780 and have had no problems with it, (its been about a month) but the other day I noticed during the main screen of the new game The Forest the card had a buzzing sound coming from it, but once in game it goes away. Same with Sniper Elite V2 it buzzes during the main menu and during gameplay, as well as the new Battlefield Hardline Beta, I don't know why because I play DayZ and Metro on max settings all the time with no buzzing coming from it. The games that do make it buzz are not demanding games at all.

Does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing this or how to fix it? or if its even a big deal at all? The temps always stay normal, it doesn't overheat or anything abnormal, its just not exactly a buzzing sound that I want to hear lol. I don't want to RMA it because this is now my second 780, had to return the first one due to it being damaged during shipping..

Thanks for taking the time to read this~

PC Specs-

Intel i5 4670k
EVGA GTX 780
EVGA 750W PSU
16GB Corsair Vengence
MSI Z87-G45 Mobo

You can get the beta off steam! but it costs like 15$, not bad thought its really fun. I keep getting told that its no problem, but idono I just hate the sound that it makes, but I guess if the temp is staying the same, not much to worry right? : x

What are the temps of the gpu?

My GPU temps range from 75-80 under heavy gaming, can play for 10+ hours straight without any temp changes. Have only seen it go up to 81 but that was very briefly, other than that its never running higher than 80.

Yeah the temps I'm getting are perfectly fine for the 780 as long as it doesn't get too much higher. The case I'm using is the Thermaltake Chaser MK-1 full tower,

Them beast won't overheat! but i guess games make specific noises in ac4 just noticed i have noise like something is in mi fan but i think the noise is coming from the cpu in my case.

Hmm, yeah I'm just curious why its buzzing during games that don't demand that much but yet, I can play Day Z on max settings without any buzzing, just seems odd xD

After reading around I found that the reason why the card is buzzing is because its trying to run at maximum speed trying to output as many frames per second so its putting stress on the card, a very simple solution is to turn on Vsync... the second I turned it on all the buzzing went away and I don't even notice any performance decrease,

for those that didn't know like me, Vsync synchronizes your fps with your monitors refresh rate, so it'll only push the card enough that my monitor can ouput, which makes sense, no point in having your card run at max fps when your monitor can't even display it. So I highly recommend using Vsync in games, it completely fixed my problem~

Din't know that good job! But its strange that my gpu is buzzing in ac4 when i cant max out it and it need powerful card to run it on high.
