HDMI --> VGA converter recommendations and reasonable price ranges

I have a laptop with a HDMI video-out port on the side I would like to use to connect to an old SVGA LCD monitor. I am looking for recommendations for a converter which will drop the digital HDMI video feed to a minimum quality of 1024x786 @60hz analog without requiring special software drivers. Does anyone here have one they're satisfied with? Please also include what a fair price would be. Is there anything I should be aware of?
