Mystery Port - is there a way to check what is it for?

So, here is the thing.

The older version of PSVita [1k version] has a weird mystery port and nobody really knows what is that for.

Is there any possible way to check, what it actually can do? Sony kinda confirmed, it was meant to be for a video output to TV, but they scrammed it. I know this might be like the stupidest question ever, but whats possibly to do, to get any kind of information about how it works?

No no, the usb charging is at the bottom of Vita, the port i am talking about is at the top. It was called accessory port.
