I've just seen a thread being deleted within 5 minutes or less of it being posted. From reading the thread, it didn't seem any different that any one of the many threads asking for help with a blue screen, yet the author stated that he had previous threads deleted and as I was responding to that thread, it also went 404.

So, without going into the specifics of a specific thread, what are the general reasons apparently innocuous threads can get the chop?

Duplicate posts, references to pirated software, abusive language....

Duplicate posts are very common.

Hmm.. I saw a post of that person in this very forum, and before I could read it, it as well went 404. The mods must have a real grudge against that poor guy. or he must have been very, very bad in a previous incarnation.

Karsten, I seriously appreciate your topic here. I'm completely at a loss for what I'm doing wrong here.

1) My original thread was deleted, it was NOT a duplicate. So the subsequent topics were simply trying to answer the question.
2) I'm not using any software that has been pirated, all of it has been paid for in full.
3) There has been absolutely no abusive language.
4) I've never been on the Tom's Hardware forum before.

I literally have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I'm following forum rules and I'm providing a succinct, yet detailed description of my problem.

I even had my post in this forum deleted so I have no idea why I'm being targeted in this manner.

The mods are a pretty thick-skinned bunch. To earn 'special consideration', someone would have to be pretty far out there.

Okay, I've read your post Jacob and I've done nothing that violates the items described.

So please help me understand what I'm doing wrong because right now this seems completely arbitrary as to why I'm being treated in this manner.

If "Extra Fox" is offensive or was previously used by a member running afoul of the rules let me know that. I can change it. I just liked it because it's a line from a Dr. Seuss book my kids like.

Here was my original post:

Never-ending Blue-Screens - please help

My system is dead.

In fact, it has now been dead longer than it was not dead.

It had a short, fantastic existence from the end of March to the end of April. At which point a crash during a game led to repeated Blue-screen errors. I've tried, what I believe to be, a wide gamut of problem solving approaches to determine the issue, but I've ultimate come up empty and I'm in need of advice.

Here are some highlights:

    1) The memory tests clean. In fact I've been running Memtest86+ without a single error (again) for several hours as I write this.
    2) I've RMA'd the motherboard, but that didn't fix anything.
3)I've updated to the latest BIOS, but that seems to have no effect.
    4) I replaced the original boot disk with an Intel unit, but that had no effect.
    5) I've tried installing Windows 7 and Ubuntu, but I'm met with Kernel Panics shortly after launching the install sequence.
    6) Kernel panics seem to refer to a device driver, but I with nothing installed I struggle to understand how I can address this.

At this point, even though the memory test clean, I still suspect it as the culprit. There are two things that I've found curious. 1) the motherboard does not detect its speed properly, I have to manually set it and 2) Memtest86+ does not detect it's specs at all.

I have some photos I've taken of the Windows blue-screens and Linux Kernel Panics for anyone interested. I'd give you the dumps, but there's nothing to capture them at this point.

System Specs

    - ASUS Sabertooth Z87
    - Intel i7 4770k
    - Corsair Dominator (2x 16GB, 1866)
    - ASUS nVidia GTX 770
    - Intel 530 (240GB, previously, Samsung 840 EVO)
    - Corsair AX760 Power Supply
    - Corsair Obsidian Case (for whatever relevance that may add)
    - Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

Although I'd love to help you, I'm not a mod (though it would be cool someday) so I don't know who closed your threads or why. USAFRet can probably help you.

Karsten75, you asked "why Windows 7 Ultimate", and the reason at the time was it made the VPN we had at my company work better what with the different domains. Also, it sounded a LOT cooler which at the time seemed important. ;)

OK...looked into it. That was caught, apparently mistakenly, by the automatic deletion routine.
It is there to catch obvious spam, etc. Why it swept up yours....unknown. Maybe a glitch in the Matrix.

Your thread has been reopened.

It's still coming back as a 404, but I really appreciate you checking on this.

I've been on various forums for a long time, but I've never had a problem like this before.

Try it again. I just clicked on the link in my post, and it came up fine.

Okay, maybe it's a fluke on my system. I'll clear out of the browser and try again.

Thanks a million for checking on this. I was absolutely baffled as to what I was doing wrong.

You did nothing wrong that I can see. The automatic software farted at the wrong moment.

Unfortunately, I'm still getting a 404 for that thread even after restarting the browser.

I'm currently using Ubuntu 14.04 (and I'm a rank novice at that) and Google Chrome to view the forums.

I don't get the 404 error, all I can see it the title.

Just the server being finicky maybe?

Unfortunately yes, on my machine I still get the 404 screen. I've also checked on my tablet which has no log-in credentials and I get the same reaction that Jacob gets; just the title, no content.

I can re-post, but I don't want to run afoul of the multiple threads issue.

Goodness, I didn't think i'd be causing these kinds of problems today.

OK....try this one:

I wonder if it's your method of changing colour - I don't have a problem doing it this way with a hash symbol in front of the colour code. I'll mess aboutr with some experiments when I wake up properly. Meantime, I posted a suggestion you try taking one of teth RAM sticks out, although I'm sure you already tried that.

When you RMA'd the motherboard, are you saying you had a replacement that still shows the same behaviour?

Sorry for all the inconvenience.

I did add color to some of the headings in my thread, but I used the forum UI to do that. I believe in my forum settings I have it set to show the full WYSIWYG editor.

What's interesting is I received an email notification of your suggestion from that thread, but I still cannot view it. It returns a 404 to me even this morning. It would be no trouble and I would be more than happy to recreate the topic, but I'm still a little wary it will get swept away by the whatever automatic delete function I fell foul of.

Regarding your suggestions, I did test the RAM as individual sticks, but I don't recall if I tried installing with one or the other in place. So I'll try that again and I'll try using different slots.

As far as the motherboard is concerned; the returned unit behaved the same. I actually think they just sent me back my original motherboard. My hunch is they tested it, it came back with an all-clear and so they just shipped it back to me. Because my understanding was that if something did need to be done to the board I would have ended up with a replacement unit. Of course if they had supplied even a modicum of information regarding what took place I'd be a lot more confident the board isn't still an issue.

Well I posted again after checking with USAFRet and the thread is still alive at this point. In my previous attempts the thread would be shut down within about five minutes.

I do appreciate the help and attention with this. This all seems kind of fitting with the issues I've had with my system. :)
