Got on for the first time in three days for a few hours and SSD's are full of files like this --=={Intel_Trim_File_0}==--.bin

I have Intel 530 Series SSD's @ 240GB Each

It did this on every SSD drive except the OS Partition and the non SSD Drives. The OS Drive is also an SSD. Odd?

Any idea what is causing it?

How to stop it?

If these can be deleted without losing data?

Not sure what has changed (I think there were some Windows 8.1 Pro Windows Updates that ran before I shut down a few days ago).

I did upgrade my RAM today, to 32 GB of Corsair CMD32GX3M4A2400C10 Kit.

Thank you!

Dave

Okay, well that is just weird! My drive space is now recovered and the Trim files are gone. This must be some type of SSD Maintenance that runs?

SSD Trim function zero's out the deleted files, bits & bytes so that when it is time to write the speed will be fast. Without the trim function ssd's would slow down pretty quick.

Trim only works with win7 & 8 and has to be done manually with vista.
