I have had this issue with a bunch of articles recently. I read something, find it interesting, then copy+paste the URL and send it to a friend using Lync, gChat, or any other medium, and they get a 404 error.

Here's an example:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/pentium-g3258-overc...

If I copy that to notepad, close all my windows, and re-open it, it gives me the same 404. It's like the link doesn't work unless you click through the entire site to get to the article properly.

Copy and paste into a different browser from that link worked just fine for me. I'm not sure what I'm doing different.

Works fine for me. Either clicking directly, or copy/paste into a new browser instance.

Hi,

your registry is probably corrupted or something.

Might want to scan for virus / malware with adwcleaner / roguekiller / malwarebytes and combofix if you are heavily infected
